If you want Outlook 2011 (for Mac) to display the actual email address for the sender or recipient of an email:
- Hover your mouse cursor over the name. A contact card will appear.

good tip, thanks! any idea how to make it display the address *permanently*? i _always_ prefer to see the email address, so it would be nice to have it as a permanent fixture…
Haven’t checked thoroughly but I don’t think there is a way to do this.
My Outlook 2011 for Mac currently displays the email address in some received messages. I have looked at the contact records for each message – all are in my contacts database – but I do not see the difference. Why would my Outlook (I’m on Exchange 2010) display some messages with the email and some with their name? I prefer their name for my purposes – emails don’t always tell you clearly who sent the message.
I’m not sure on this one but there are two possibilities:
1. It depends on whether the email sender actually sent his name. Some people (or email providers or email programs?) just include the email address but not the sender’s name in the “From” field of an email.
2. Outlook 2010 creates an address book called “Suggested Contacts”. I think it places something in there when you reply to an email. It does this automatically. Maybe Outlook is taking the name from this address book.
